J Clifton Boiler Repairs and Servicing are Gas Safe Registered (Reg. No. 517384) and also Water Industry Approved contractors. The Gas Safe Register is the only official registration and licensing body for gas businesses and engineers in the UK, it replaced the previous CORGI approved listings in 2009. Whether you are a homeowner, landlord or business, it is essential that anyone working on your gas appliance is experienced and registered, anything else would be both illegal and dangerous.

All of our engineers are Gas Safe registered, fully trained, qualified and insured and because we specialise in repairs and servicing, we are experts in our field.

Complete Peace of Mind

There are two different documents that are required by law for gas appliances in UK properties. The first is when a new heat producing gas appliance is installed in your property. You will receive a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate within approximately 28 days of the product being installed by your Gas Safe engineer. This is a way of the Local Authority being informed about the new appliance, showing that it conforms to safety standards.

Gas engineers are not required to issue any other documentation when it comes to servicing or maintaining boilers. However for your peace of mind on any installation, repair or servicing work we undertake we provide our customers with paperwork detailing the work done and a Gas Safety report.

The second legally required documentation for installed gas appliances is the Gas Safety Certificate, also known as a Landlord Gas Safety Record or a CP12. These are issued by Gas Safe engineers after thorough inspections of appliances, flues, chimneys and pipework in properties that are rented to tenants.

We can even arrange to liaise with the tenant directly to visit the property for the checks and then send the completed digital report directly to the landlord. This ensures that the process is as convenient as possible for all concerned. We even offer a yearly reminder service to make sure your Gas Safety Certificate does not expire.

Typically the checks we undertake for a Gas Safety Certificate include the following:

  • Inspection of the burner and any subsequent cleaning required.
  • A check of all components for any corrosion, degradation or leaks.
  • Pressure and rates checks and calibration.
  • Flue inspection for condition and integrity.
  • Inspection for any indication of incomplete combustion or ‘sooting’.
  • Full inspection of the gas appliance for general condition and integrity.
